Joe, you nailed all of the facts but one: It's Kansas State University instead of Kansas University (the two are rivals).
ReplyDeleteStyle issues: avoid characterizing a death as tragic or untimely, or a family as loving (but it's great to include quotes from other people who say that).
Capitalize proper nouns: Sept., Oklahoma Journal, Radio Free Europe.
State abbreviations: Ill., Okla.
bachelor's degree is lower case and gets an apostophe.
It would be Williams' obituary rather than William's obituary (the S at the end of my name can make possessives confusing).
After introducing a person by his full name, use his last name on subsequent references (rather than his first name).
